Stree movie story: The pleasantly attractive town of Chanderi is haunted by a unique angry woman
spirit. The woman spirit is haunting the men of the town during a festive season. The spirit is called
Stree in the movie. She calls out to any men who are alone during the four days of the festive period.
When any men turn back, the spirit flicks leaving behind only their outfits. In the meantime, one
fantastic tailor of the town who is the wonder boy of Chanderi falls in love with a girl during this
festive days. But his friends doubt that that girl might be the Stree as she mysteriously disappeared.
Stree movie review: In the first world and third world societies, there are two social evils called the
chauvinism and misogyny. Women are always dominated in this male dominating society. The movie
Stree gives much respect to women in the form of appropriate conversations in the form of comedy
as well as horror prospects. The movie certainly leaves a unique experience after watching, but it
feels somewhat jarring. The movie is expected to be relevant to society. However, it appears a bit
preachy. The story writing is very good with some interesting dialogues in the horror-comedy genre.
There are very interesting spills, and thrills in this movie as this genre is not seen usually. The most
hilarious character in the movie is Rudra which is acted by Pankaj Tripathi. His character is of an
owner of a bookshop who knows everything. He tries to guide the hero of the film Vicky and his
friends about the haunting actions by Stree. The comic timing of Pankaj Tripathi is picture perfect
which makes the movie lot more hilarious. The acting of Rajkumar Rao is spellbound in all the genres
of comedy, romance as well as horror. The friends of Vicky acted by Aparshakti Khurana, and
Abhishek Banerjee offered comic punches very well. The role of Shraddha Kapoor is very puzzling
though her acting is top class in offering the mood of the character. Though the film is very hilarious
and its comic timings are awesome, it feels a little bit boring as it is much longer. In the end, the
movie leaves its genre of horror comedy and focuses on to the ideas of stabbing-the-ghost-in-the
heart types that is much seen in the horror movies.
Overall, the movie Stree is very entertaining with its funny characters and dialogues though it has
various flaws and enigmatic ideas. The story of the film based on horror-comedy makes it different
from any other horror movie. The movie is making eerier atmosphere among the people as its idea
was to create an atmosphere of both comedy and horror. The trademark humor of the director Raj
and DK who have also made films like Shor in the city, Go Goa Gone is noticed in the movie. In the
end, the movie started its journey with both its absurdities and fun moments.
Box Office: The movie is predicted to cross Rs3crore in its opening as it is offering a totally different
genre of both the fun elements with some scary elements too. The movie is also featuring Rajkumar
Rao and Shraddha Kapoor for the first time which is based on folklore. The film is clashing with
another movie ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se’ on the same date. On the first day, the film has
earned a total of Rs 6.50 to 6.75 crore. And the second-day total box office collection of the movie is
about Rs. 17.69.
